Superior Sound Quality
The Beatles albums were digitally remastered and released on CD in 1987 and up until now (2009) they have never been remastered again. This is significant because the sound quality on those 1987 versions is not very good. The technology used for mastering to CD has improved a lot since then. Back then only 16 bit technology was used and now 24 bit technology is used (24 bit/192 kHz mastering was used for these new remastered Beatles CDs.)
What does this mean? In practical terms it means these new Beatles CDs sound much better than the old ones. The original sound of the master tapes is much better captured so that the albums sound "warmer" and more details are heard. Finally The Beatles music will be heard the way it was meant to be heard!

The Past Masters Compilation
Many of The Beatles greatest songs were not included on their albums, but that's no problem with this box set because the Past Masters compilation is included which contains every single non-album song The Beatles released from huge hits like "Hey Jude," "We Can Work It Out," & "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to great b-sides like "Rain," "Old Brown Shoe," and "This Boy."
Also there are alternate "single" versions of a lot of songs that are included on the albums such as the fast version of "Revolution" (much different than the version on The White Album.) Other "alternate versions" included: "Across the Universe," "Let It Be," "Get Back," and "Love Me Do."
